Who we are

History

The school began in 1997 with a Nursery school of 20 children and a few volunteers.  For the first 3 years, CGA held classes in a local church.  The primary school opened in 2000 with grades 1 and 2 and has been adding a grade every year until it will be a full Primary school with Nursery-8th grade in the year 2006.  It gives hope for almost 300 children (over 65% are orphans) and has a staff of around 40 people including teachers, cooks, grounds people and office staff. 

The school gives each child an opportunity for an education and attempts to meet many of their basic physical needs including 2 meals a day, uniforms, shoes, medical assistance and food distribution during the holidays for all the orphans.

The growth and continued expansion create a financial need.  Just as the Lord established this work, He will continue to provide for the growing needs of our Children.

Statement of Faith

Christ’s Gift Academy is a Christian ministry that will strive towards its goal by equipping the children in their spiritual growth, academic training and environmental stewardship through Biblical principles.

As a Christian organization, we believe that:

1. The Holy Scripture (Bible) is originally given by God, is divinely inspired, infallible, entirely trustworthy, and the supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

2. There is one God who is eternally existence in three persons:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

3. Jesus Christ is Lord and is God manifest in the flesh having been born by virgin Mary.  We believe in His sinless human life, His divine miracles, His vicarious and atoning death on the cross at Calvary, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, His mediatorial work and His future return in power and glory.

4. All men have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God.  Salvation is for all sinners and can only be attained through the blood of Jesus Christ, which was shed for all mankind, through faith apart from works, and the regeneration of the Holy Spirit.

5. The Holy Spirit indwells the believer, enabling him to live a holy life, to witness and work for the Lord Jesus Christ.

6. There is spiritual unity for all those who have believed in Jesus Christ for salvation and have been regenerated (changed) by the Holy Spirit regardless of their church affiliations.  These make up the Church, which is the body of Jesus Christ, with Jesus as the head.

7. Satan exists as a person, the once archangel who rebelled in heaven and was cast down to earth by God.  His (Satan’s) intent is to counterfeit the work of God and to frustrate the purpose of God.  Satan knows that his destiny is eternal doom in hell and therefore does all within his power to lure mankind away from the only way of salvation, Jesus Christ.

8. All the dead will have a bodily resurrection, believers in Jesus Christ to everlasting life of joy and happiness, and unbelievers unto judgment and everlasting punishment in the lake of fire, Hell.

9.  The task of looking after the environment is a Biblical command to mankind for man’s own benefit while living on earth (Genesis 2:15).  Disobedience to the call results in poor health and poverty among other serious consequences.   This however does not determine the eternal destiny of man.  Jesus Christ alone is the way, the truth and the life.  No one goes to the Father unless by Him.

Philosophy of Education

The philosophy of Christ’s Gift Academy is based on the authority of God’s word as truth. Following the mandate of God’s Word, we want to train children in the way they should go. Our goal is to empower and equip children in fulfilling God’s call for leadership in His kingdom and community.

We believe that each child is a unique creation of God with his or her own special abilities, gifts, and destiny. Therefore, we want to recognize and develop these gifts so the children will become confident and independent in their love for learning. Our commitment to these children is for life, so one of our priorities is to see them come to salvation through Jesus Christ and to facilitate them in a personal and intimate walk with God.

We desire to train the children in God’s way and Word by incorporating spiritual truths with outstanding academics and practical life application. We do not want to isolate learning from life, but incorporate all academic disciplines so that the children develop a Biblical world view.  It is our desire that our children will become discoverers and researchers that use Biblical reasoning skills to solve challenges in life.

Vision

As a Christian mission based on the truths of God’s Word, we recognize that God’s heart is to be “a father to the fatherless and a helper to orphans.” Therefore, we desire to establish a school that provides a quality education for the fatherless and orphans as well as other children in the community. Christ’s Gift Christian Nursery and Academy is a ministry of service to children in Suba District, Mbita Division.

Since Jesus said that the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these little ones.  We expect to see God’s kingdom come in reality among the children. It is not a business, but a faith ministry. Our success and continued support depend on God, so our lives and work must be pleasing to Him. Together we are serving him and seeking His will.

It is to be understood that the goal of the school is to have academic excellence following the best educational practices, administered with love and godly training.  The Bible is the foundation of the complete curriculum. Our desire is for the children to gain knowledge with understanding so that Biblical reasoning will become a part of their everyday life.  We want to see Christian character developed in these children so that they will take the authority of God’s kingdom to every domain of life in Kenya.  We are not just providing them an education, but a future for their country.
